As developers get their hands on the latest version of Google's operating system, Android 4.3, we're discovering some hidden features of the platform that hint at what's to come. Android Police reports on one such gem, "App Ops." According to the site, the application, which isn't quite ready for primetime, will allow users to control the Android features that apps have permission to use.
iOS has offered granular app controls for some time through its Settings app, and it looks like Google is just about ready to roll its version of the feature out to its users. In some ways, Google's interpretation seems better; it'll offer users a quick overview of what app is using what feature and when, helping advanced users to keep track of misbehaving applications.
Another feature on the way is 4K support, which was revealed through a few lines of code that point to XXXHDPI settings and assets coming soon. Of course, we're unlikely to see tablets or smartphones requiring such a setting anytime soon, but it'll certainly help for Android devices that connect to your TV. In slightly less important (but no less interesting) news, the Konami code now works on Android.
